On June 1, 2012, Jason Michael Rathburn stole 10 rifles from the home of Arlie Piguet. Luckily, the whole incident was caught on tape. While leaving Piguet’s home, Rathburn, spurred by a sign above the back door that tells intruders to smile for the camera, turned around and did just that.

 

“He stopped and smiled,” said Piguet.

 

It was this video that later helped police track down Rathburn and take him into custody.

Geo-Services: Alarm.com’s Latest FREE Enhancement :: MD Security Systems

Alarm.com has added an intelligent new service to its Interactive systems to give homeowners more valuable and convenient alerts. The security company’s latest enhancement, Geo-Services, sends homeowners automatic notifications if they enter or exit a specified zone, known as a “geofence.” This allows the homeowner to then remotely arm their security system from a smartphone.

 

Best of all, this new functionality is included at no additional cost for all Interactive accounts!

 

How to Install Geo-Services

 

  1. Enable Geo-Services on one or more phones.  Log into the latest version of the Alarm.com app from an iPhone or Android device and enable Geo-Services, found under the Settings menu within the app.
  2. View and manage geofences online.  Log into the Alarm.com website and go to Mobile > Geo-Services to view and edit geofences for the account.  A “Home” geofence will be created by default around the system address.
  3. Set up geo-enabled rules or notifications.  The Geo-Services page on the website links to the Geo-enabled Arming Reminders feature.

 

You no longer have to remember to check-in –  automatically be notified and take action in real-time, all through your smartphone!
